Atlas is Algonaut's sample organiser and drum machine combined. Its core feature is a sample map that uses artificial intelligence to sort your samples, associating sounds by type and timbre and then representing them visually as a map — so instead of browsing folders by filename, you navigate a visual field of sounds and audition them in context. Which samples you own becomes less of a barrier to using them, since Atlas works with whichever samples, MIDI, external apps, and hardware you throw at it. It is also a working drum machine. The drum sequencer is described as the best parts of a step-sequencer and a piano-roll merged together, with mix and match step timings for triplets and fast fills, polyrhythm for complex rhythms, recording and live playing, mirror edit to save repetitive mouse clicks, and MIDI out to play other plugins or hardware. Sequences can be combined and modified to create new ones, and MIDI files can be drag-drop imported with the original timing preserved, with export to MIDI and audio loops. It handles WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG, MP3, WMA, and more, and can run standalone or as a plug-in in your DAW.
