Acid V is Arturia's recreation of the Roland TB-303 Bass Line — the machine that, used against its intended purpose, produced the squelchy, resonant, filter-sweeping bass lines that became the defining sound of acid house, techno, and later acid jazz and psytrance. The 303's character lies in its single-oscillator saw/square voice driving an 18 dB/octave low-pass filter with pronounced resonance, plus the slide and accent behaviours that create the genre's characteristic glides and sharp emphasis.

Arturia's approach to its recreation line is the exclusive analog modeling technology that makes our emulations indistinguishable from the originals, working by accurately mimicking the characteristics of analog oscillators, filters, and soft clipping. Version expansions add capabilities the hardware lacked: an upgraded sequencer with more steps and expanded pattern storage, additional modulation sources including an extra LFO and function generator, a built-in effects section covering distortion, delay, chorus, and reverb, and a preset browser supporting keyword search and browsing by instrument type and musical style, with a resizable GUI and saveable favourites. It is part of the V Collection, described as your complete dream line-up of the legendary synths, organs, pianos and more that made keyboard history. It works in Standalone, VST, AAX, Audio Unit, and NKS (64-bit DAWs only), on Windows and macOS. It suits acid house, techno, psytrance, electro, and experimental electronic production.
