Applied Acoustics Systems Strum GS-2 is a physical-modeling guitar instrument designed to recreate the sound and playing techniques of acoustic and electric guitars without relying on conventional sample playback. Its synthesis engine models guitar strings, bridges, bodies, pickups, amplifiers, and speaker cabinets, producing responsive tones with smooth dynamics. The factory library includes over 250 acoustic and electric guitar presets, covering nylon- and steel-string acoustics, clean electric guitars, crunchy tones, and distorted sounds. Automatic chord recognition and guitar-style voicing allow keyboard players to trigger natural-sounding guitar chords without manually arranging every note as it would appear on a fretboard.

Strum GS-2 includes automatic strumming and picking, dedicated strumming keys, and more than 700 MIDI strumming patterns that can be triggered or dragged into a DAW for further editing. Guitar articulations such as palm muting, scratching, slides, bends, hammer-ons, and pull-offs help create more expressive performances. Its built-in processing includes amplifier and cabinet modeling, spring reverb, chorus, delay, distortion, phaser, flanger, filtering, EQ, compression, and tremolo. The instrument is suited to hip-hop, R&B, pop, country, rock, and cinematic production where playable guitar parts are needed from a MIDI keyboard. It runs on Windows and macOS as a standalone instrument and supports VST2, VST3, AU, AAX Native, and NKS formats.
